Which Banded model, if any
What Banded sells on Amazon US
Banded is a waterfowl hunting brand first. The waders it sells are bootfoot (the boot is built into the leg, so you step in as one piece), and the maker's pages describe their use as hunting, not wade fishing. That does not make them useless to an angler, but it does set the terms. A hunting wader is designed to keep you dry and warm while you stand, kneel and wait, often in cold, shallow water, with a built-in boot you do not need to lace.
At our last check (October 2026) we track 19 listings under the Banded name. Ten are waders: the RedZone 2.0 and 3.0 and the RedZone Elite, a women's RedZone 2.0, the Phantom X in insulated and uninsulated versions, and the Black Label Elite in insulated and zipper-front uninsulated versions. Eight are wader jackets and one is a patch kit. The table above has them all. Each value carries a mark: "maker" means Banded's own page states it, "claimed" is a manufacturer claim with no named test, "listing" is what the Amazon listing says, and a dash means we could not confirm the value and will not guess.
The RedZone listings are mostly "listing" values, because we have no maker page for them. The Phantom X and Black Label Elite have maker pages, so their columns are fuller. If you are comparing a RedZone with a Black Label Elite, remember that one is rich in confirmed numbers and the other is thin, and the dashes are not a verdict on quality.
Who Banded is
Banded was founded in 2010 by Christian Curtis and Chad Belding, according to a Greenhead article, and it operates as Banded Holdings Inc. in Springdale, Arkansas. Its best-known product is the wader. The same article credits an "innovative wader system" for putting the brand on the map, and says the company also makes other gear and clothing and produces outdoor TV shows.
In August 2015 Banded Holdings announced that it had acquired Avery Outdoors of Memphis, Tennessee. Avery was founded in 1994 and made gear under three names: Avery, Greenhead Gear and Avery Sporting Dog. Banded said it would keep the Memphis headquarters open. That matters to you as a shopper because Avery wader listings on Amazon now link to Banded-hosted product pages, and Banded's own wader warranty page tells you to send claims to Memphis. We cover that line on our Avery page.
The founding year comes from a single source that I read in full. I did not find a second primary source for it, so treat it as the brand's reported start date.
The main lines and who each suits
RedZone. The older line. The listings on Amazon cover a RedZone 2.0, a Two-Tone 2.0, a 3.0 insulated, a 3.0 uninsulated, an Elite and a women's 2.0. The Amazon listings call them breathable and insulated bootfoots, and the 3.0 uninsulated listing gives 1600 grams of boot insulation. For maker values we have only the warranty: Banded's wader warranty page gives RedZone 2.0 and 3.0 two years. Everything else is a listing value. These are the waders I'd look at if you want an insulated Banded bootfoot and you are comfortable working from a listing, not a maker spec sheet.
Phantom X. The line with the most data. The maker lists three layers, the SHEDS waterproof breathable membrane, 1600-gram insulated boots, boot sizes 5 to 18 and body fits Slim, Regular, Stout and King, with a two-year warranty. The insulated version has HARS body insulation and a stated comfort range of -10 to 50 degrees F. The uninsulated version lists a 32 to 70 degree F comfort range. A word on the table: the "insulation" column shows yes for both, because both list the boots as insulated. The uninsulated Phantom X has an uninsulated body but 1600-gram boots. It is a sensible choice for someone who wants to control warmth with layers and does not want insulation in the legs.
Black Label Elite. The top of the lineup in our data. Banded lists five layers, SHEDS membrane, HARS body insulation throughout on the insulated version, a front zipper on the zipper version, boot sizes 8 to 14, body sizes medium to 3XL in short, regular and tall heights, and a two-year full wader warranty. The Black Label Elite insulated wader does not give a comfort rating on its page, so I won't give you one. SHEDS is Banded's name for its membrane, and the layer count is a manufacturer claim, so treat it as a description of construction and not an independent measure of toughness.
Wader jackets. Eight of the 19 listings are jackets: the Black Label wader jacket, the Black Label Elite rain shell, the ASPIRE Catalyst 3-in-1, the Stretchapeake, the Calefaction 3-N-1, two White River jackets and a women's White River jacket. The ones with maker pages list SHEDS or eVent membranes, hoods and pocket layouts, but not waterproof ratings in millimeters. If you compare them in our table, notice that the rating column is mostly empty for that reason. For a deeper look, see our wading jackets section.
NoSo wader patches. A patch-only repair product, in our data from the Amazon listing. It does not include adhesive per the listing. If you are buying a wader that you want to keep, a patch product is worth having in the truck; our wader repair kits page compares others.
Insulated, uninsulated and breathable
The biggest decision with any Banded wader is insulation. An insulated wader holds heat, which is welcome standing still in 35-degree water and a sweat bath if you wade a mile in September. The uninsulated Phantom X and Elite Zipper let you decide with layers. You can read more on our insulated waders page and on the broader breathable waders page.
"Breathable" means the fabric lets water vapor out while keeping liquid water out. It does not make a wader cool, and condensation inside a breathable wader is normal enough that Banded's warranty page says it is not a leak. That line is useful: if you feel damp after a long sweaty day, check where the dampness is before you blame the seam.
A note on boots. Bootfoot waders come with the boot attached. A 1600-gram rating is a measure of insulation weight in the boot (grams of insulating material per square meter), not the weight of the boot. Higher numbers mean warmer boots and a stiffer, heavier walk. For walking, I'd look at a stockingfoot pair with separate boots; see bootfoot vs stockingfoot waders for the trade.
Who should buy a Banded wader, and who should skip
Buy one if you hunt waterfowl, stand in cold water for hours, and want a built-in boot with a stated warranty. The Phantom X and Black Label Elite give you maker numbers to compare. Skip one if you plan to wade a trout river at pace, if you need a wader with a separate boot for support on slippery rock, or if you want a very small, packable pair. The Marketing Copy likes to say "built for the toughest conditions." Whose conditions? A flooded timber stand in January is not a gravel bar in June, and it pays to ask which one the copy had in mind.
Warranty
Banded's wader warranty page gives two years from original purchase for RedZone 2.0, RedZone 3.0 and Black Label Elite, and three years for ASPIRE breathable waders. Phantom X is two years on its product pages. The warranty is for the original purchaser only. It becomes void if ownership transfers. You need proof of purchase and may need to send photos. The page does not list specific covered defects or exclusions, which is something to ask about before you rely on it. You may pay to ship the wader to Banded's Memphis headquarters, and Banded pays to ship the replacement back. Our Banded waders warranty guide walks through the process.
Sizing
Banded sizes the wader in two parts: a body fit and a boot size. The Phantom X chart uses Slim, Regular, Stout and King, each tied to chest and waist ranges, with King listed with a longer inseam. Black Label Elite uses medium to 3XL with short, regular and tall heights, and boot sizes 8 to 14. Banded's chart asks for chest, waist and inseam measurements. I'd follow it exactly, measure over the layers you will wear, and buy the boot size that fits with your thick socks on. For buyer feedback on fit: I did not read enough reviews to make a claim, so check the Amazon page for your model. The maker's chart is at banded.com/pages/size-chart.
Bootfoot sizing has less room for error than stockingfoot. A stockingfoot lets you change boot size separately. A bootfoot locks the foot size to the wader.
Other brands in the same space
If you are shopping for hunting waders, our duck hunting waders and hunting waders pages list others. Drake and Frogg Toggs are two names that overlap with Banded in the Amazon listings we track, and the Avery line is also under the same ownership. Our best duck hunting waders list sorts by fixed criteria rather than by brand.

Questions about Banded
Are Banded waders good for fishing?
They can be, with a caveat. Every Banded wader we track is a bootfoot, and the maker's pages describe the use as hunting. Bootfoot waders with insulated boots suit standing in cold, shallow, still water, such as a duck blind or a boat ramp in winter. They are a clumsy fit for long walks on gravel and rock, where a stockingfoot wader and a separate wading boot give you more ankle support. If you mostly fish from a drift boat or stand in one spot in cold water, a Banded bootfoot is a reasonable candidate. If you hike to your water, look at our stockingfoot waders page first.
What is the difference between Banded RedZone and Black Label waders?
RedZone is the older entry in the lineup and Black Label Elite is the higher tier. Per the maker's warranty page, RedZone 2.0, RedZone 3.0 and Black Label Elite all carry a two-year warranty. The Black Label Elite pages we read list a five-layer breathable fabric with the SHEDS membrane and 1600-gram boot insulation. The RedZone listings on Amazon only say breathable and insulated, and give no layer count from the maker. I can't tell you more than that about how the two compare in the field, because the maker pages we read do not explain the differences in construction.
Are Banded waders insulated?
Some are. The Phantom X insulated wader lists HARS insulation with a comfort rating of -10 to 50 degrees F. The Phantom X uninsulated wader lists an uninsulated body with a comfort rating of 32 to 70 degrees F. Both list 1600-gram insulated boots, so in our data the insulation flag is true for the uninsulated model as well; it refers to the boots. Read the body insulation line, not only the yes/no value.
What is the Banded waders warranty?
On Banded's wader warranty page, RedZone 2.0, RedZone 3.0 and Black Label Elite waders carry two years from the original purchase date and ASPIRE breathable waders carry three. The warranty is for the original purchaser only and is void if ownership is transferred. You need proof of purchase showing the place and date, and photos may be required. You may have to ship the wader to Banded's Memphis address at your cost, and Banded ships the replacement back at its expense. The page says condensation inside breathable waders is not a leak or a product failure. The Amazon-listed Avery wader pages in our data carry one year instead.
Do Banded waders have a size chart?
Yes, and you should use it, not a general chart. Banded's size chart asks for chest, waist and inseam, plus your boot size. The Phantom X chart gives body fits named Slim, Regular, Stout and King, and Black Label Elite lists Short, Regular and Tall body heights with boot sizes 8 to 14. The page does not say how to choose when you fall between two fits, so compare your measurements with the chart and ask Banded if you are unsure. The chart is at banded.com/pages/size-chart. I don't copy it here, because it changes by line.
Does Banded make youth waders?
We do not track any Banded youth waders on Amazon US, and I could not confirm a youth line from the maker pages I read. The one women's wader in our data is the Women's RedZone 2.0. For a young hunter or angler, check the maker's site, and see our kids waders page for other brands. Waders on children are a safety matter as much as a fit one, so a belt and an adult nearby matter more than the brand.
Who owns Banded, and what is Avery?
Banded Holdings is based in Springdale, Arkansas. In August 2015 Banded Holdings announced it had acquired Avery Outdoors of Memphis, Tennessee, which makes Avery and Greenhead Gear. Avery's old web address now redirects to banded.com, and the Amazon listings for Avery waders point to Banded-hosted product pages. Our Avery page covers those separately.
