How alternatives are pickedProducts of the same type from other brands, closest first: same price tier as Dux's own listings at our last check, then the most maker-published specs. No popularity, no paid placement.
Which Dux model, if any
What Dux is, and what it is not
Dux describes itself on its website as "the next generation in waterfowl" and sells apparel, decoys, calls, bags and cases, dog products, cold gear and decals. That is the whole of the brand story the site tells: it does not say where the company is based, who founded it, or how long it has existed, and I could not find a primary source that does, so I will not offer a history. What matters for this page is simpler. The site does not list waders.
That matters because "Dux waders" is a search many people make, and the honest answer is that the Dux product closest to waders is a jacket. If you came here for a pair of chest waders, the closest thing we can offer is the alternatives in the waders hub and the duck hunting waders page. If Dux does sell waders that I missed, its own site is the place to confirm it.
The one Dux product on Amazon US
The DUX Thermal Camo Wader Jacket is the only Dux product in our Amazon data, and at our last check (October 2026) it is a wader-related jacket rather than waders. From the maker's product page:
- Fabric and warmth. A water-resistant upper, a thick fleece lower and a wind-proof liner inside. The page does not name the fabrics, give a waterproof rating or state an insulation weight.
- Pockets. Upper chest pockets designed for use with waders, and a sewn-in lanyard drop loop.
- Sizes. Small to 3XL.
- Camo. The pattern is named Thermal Camo. The page does not describe it further.
- Warranty. Not stated.
The product page was inconsistent about availability when I read it: the size selector said in stock while the price area said unavailable. Check the listing before you plan around it.
The table above marks every value with its source. "Maker" means the Dux page says so, "listing" means the Amazon listing says so, and a dash means we could not confirm it. For this jacket, the layer count, waterproof rating and breathability rating are all dashes, which is exactly what you should expect from a page that does not publish them.
Why the table has 14 other jackets
Because Dux has one product here, the rest of the table is alternatives. The rule is simple: same product type (a wading or wader jacket), and as many maker-stated specs as we could confirm, so that you can compare the Dux jacket against jackets that publish numbers. They come from fishing-first makers such as Frogg Toggs, Orvis, Kylebooker and Bassdash, and from hunting-first makers such as Banded and Avery, plus one from Aquaz. There is no ranking in the table. You can sort by any column and filter by brand.
If you want a jacket for fishing, start with the ones that list a layer count and waterproof rating. If you want one for waterfowl, start with the ones whose "use" is hunting and read the pocket and cuff notes.
How to read a wader jacket's numbers
A wader jacket is a short jacket meant to stay above the waterline, so it behaves differently from an ordinary rain shell. These are the columns that help most.
Layers. A 2.5-layer, 3-layer or 4.5-layer count describes how the fabric is built. More layers do not automatically mean a better jacket, and the count is the maker's description of the build. In this table the jackets that give a count list 2.5 or 3 layers, and where the maker gives none, the table shows a dash.
Waterproof rating. Given in millimeters, as in 8,000 mm or 20,000 mm. It is the maker's claim about how much water pressure the fabric is rated to hold back. It says nothing about the seams, zippers or cuffs, which are where jackets leak first.
Breathability rating. Given in grams. Higher means moisture escapes more easily, which matters if you walk to the water and sweat. It matters less if you are sitting still in a blind.
Fit, hood and warranty. The table's other columns are Fit (men's, women's or unisex, usually from the listing), Hood and Warranty. A hood that adjusts over a cap is worth checking. Cuffs and pockets are not columns, but they sit under "More specs" on each row where the maker or listing describes them. I'd look first for chest pockets high enough to use over a wading belt and cuffs that close around a wrist or glove. Some of the hunting jackets in the table list shell loops, magnetic pockets or call pockets.
How to choose between them
Think about how you will use it, not the logo.
Still, cold water (waterfowl, early or late season). You are sitting or standing for hours, so warmth is the problem. Look for fleece or synthetic insulation, a 3-in-1 build that lets you remove a layer, and hand-warmer pockets. The Dux jacket's fleece lower is aimed at this use. Our insulated waders page and the what to wear under waders guide cover the layers underneath.
Moving water (fishing). You walk, cast and sweat. Look for a published breathability rating, a lighter shell and a hem that clears the belt line. The Frogg Toggs and Orvis jackets in the table list layers and ratings, and our wading jackets page explains how to read them.
Mixed use. A jacket marked for both fishing and hunting is a compromise. It can work, but you will give up either the warmth of a hunting jacket or the lightness of a fishing shell.
Three kinds of jacket in the table
It helps to sort the alternatives into groups before you compare numbers.
Light fishing shells. The Frogg Toggs FTX Lite lists 2.5 layers with a 10,000 mm waterproof rating, and the FTX Elite lists 3 layers with 20,000 mm. The Orvis Clearwater jacket lists 3 layers and a polyurethane membrane. These suit walking water, where you want something that breathes and packs small.
Insulated and 3-in-1 hunting jackets. Banded's Calefaction and Aspire Catalyst, and the Avery Originals 3-in-1, are built as jackets with a removable or built-in warm layer, in sizes that go up to 4XL for the Calefaction and Originals. They are the closest match in purpose to the Dux jacket, since both are aimed at waterfowl hunting in the cold. Most name a membrane (SHEDS or eVent) but give no waterproof rating in our data.
Budget jackets that cover both uses. The Bassdash Walker-LW and the Kylebooker WJ002 list layers and ratings. The Bassdash is marked by its listing for both fishing and hunting. The Kylebooker numbers come from the Amazon listing, not the maker, and the table says so.
Sizing a wader jacket
A wader jacket is worn over your waders and whatever you have on under them, so size it for the layers you will wear, not for a T-shirt. The Dux jacket runs from small to 3XL on the maker's page. The alternatives range from an XS to 2XL on the Aquaz Trinity, to M through 3XL on the Kylebooker, to S through 4XL on several Banded and Bassdash jackets. Each maker links its own size chart in the table's "More specs" where we found one, and I would use that rather than a guess. Check one measurement in particular: the length. The point of the cut is to keep the hem clear of the water, so a jacket that is too long defeats the design, and one that is too short leaves a gap over your belt. If you are between sizes and plan to wear a thick fleece under the jacket, I'd go up a size, and if you mostly fish in mild weather over a base layer, stay with your usual one. Both of those are rules of thumb, so check them against the maker's chart before you order.
Warranty and returns
Dux does not state a warranty on the jacket page. It mentions 30-day returns on eligible items, and that is a return policy, not a defect guarantee. Other jackets in the table list warranties where the maker published one, and a warranty is part of the price you pay. A few makers state it clearly and others do not. Before you buy any jacket from a brand that is new to you, send the maker a short question: what does the warranty cover, and for how long?
Who should skip the Dux jacket
If you need a stated waterproof rating, skip it. The maker calls the upper water resistant and gives no number, so you cannot compare it to a rated jacket. If you want a jacket for a long day in steady rain, a rated one is the safer choice. If you need a jacket in a specific size today, check the listing, because the item showed as unavailable when I read the page.
If you want to see what duck hunting waders look like, our duck hunting waders page and the hunting waders page are the places to start, and the best duck hunting waders list applies one transparent rule to choose its picks.
Where Dux shows up
Questions about Dux
Does Dux make waders?
I could not find any. The Dux website lists apparel, hunting gear such as decoys, calls, bags and cases and dog products, and cold gear, and it does not list waders. The one wader-related Dux product we found is the DUX Thermal Camo Wader Jacket. Because a Dux wader may exist that I could not see, check the maker's site before you rule it out.
What is the DUX Thermal Camo Wader Jacket made of?
The Dux product page describes a water-resistant upper, a thick fleece lower and a wind-proof liner. It does not name the fabrics, give a waterproof rating or state an insulation weight, so I cannot tell you more than that. The listing says it has upper chest pockets designed for use with waders, a sewn-in lanyard drop loop, and sizes from small to 3XL.
Is the Dux wader jacket waterproof?
The maker calls the upper water resistant, not waterproof. Those are different claims. A waterproof wader jacket usually states a rating and a membrane or coating, and Dux states neither for this jacket. If you will stand in rain for hours, look at a jacket that publishes a waterproof rating, such as several in the table. Even then, the rating is the maker's claim and not a test of ours.
What warranty does Dux offer?
The product page does not state a warranty. It mentions free U.S. shipping above a set order value and 30-day returns on eligible items. That is a return policy, not a warranty against defects, so ask Dux what it covers before you rely on it.
How do I choose a wader jacket for duck hunting?
Think about what you stand in. Hunters sit still in cold water, so warmth and a hem that sits above the waterline matter more than a lightweight shell. Look for chest pockets you can reach with a belt on, a hood that adjusts over a cap, and cuffs that close around gloves. The table lists these for each jacket where the maker or listing says so. Our wading jackets page explains each column.
Can I wear a wader jacket without waders?
Yes, you can wear it as a jacket, but its short cut is designed to stay clear of the water above a wader belt. On dry ground that cut leaves your hips uncovered, so a longer rain jacket may suit you better when you are not wading.
