Hodgman Waders Size Chart: How to Pick a Size

There is no wader-specific Hodgman waders size chart on the Hodgman pages I could open: the maker's product pages on Pure Fishing carry a men's apparel size guide (chest, waist and hip, small to 3XL) and a size in the product name, but no boot-size or inseam table for the waders themselves. So you size Hodgman bootfoot waders mainly by your boot size, and you check the fit against your body and your layers. This page explains what Hodgman's pages show, how to size a bootfoot pair, and what to do when the chart you want does not exist.

Short answer

Hodgman does not publish a wader size chart that I could find, so size by boot size first and check body fit second. The maker's pages (Hodgman is sold through Pure Fishing) show a men's apparel size guide with chest, waist and hip measurements, small through 3XL. They do not show a boot-size table or an inseam table. The collection page lists five Hodgman products, all footwear or bootfoot waders, and has no wader sizing guide.

That is the honest position, and it matters because most Hodgman waders we track are bootfoot, where the boot size is the size. Brand history and the pairs we track are on the Hodgman brand page. For how to take measurements for any wader, see our general wader size chart guide.

What the maker pages offer

I opened the product pages for the two Hodgman waders we track and the collection page. Here is what they contain for sizing:

The apparel guide is for clothing, not boots, and neither page says how it maps onto a wader. (The Marketing Copy says "Need help choosing?" and the page offers a guide to the choosing, which I could not open.) The takeaway is simple: Hodgman gives you a boot size and a body fit and leaves the matching to you.

How to size a bootfoot pair

On a bootfoot wader the boot is attached, so one number does most of the work.

  1. Start with the boot. Take your street shoe size and think about the socks. Both Hodgman bootfoots are footwear-led: the Mackenzie has a PVC boot with a cleated outsole, and the Caster has a rubber boot with a cleated sole and 200g Thinsulate insulation per the maker's page.
  2. Think about socks. Insulation and neoprene are for cold water, and you will wear thicker socks with them. A boot that fits in a thin sock can be tight in a thick one, and a tight boot squeezes the sock and cools the foot. That is the same logic our general guide takes from SITKA, and it is general advice rather than Hodgman's.
  3. Check the body. Measure your chest, waist, hips and inseam with a soft tape, as in our wader size chart guide. The Hodgman apparel guide gives chest, waist and hip. Use it as a rough pointer, not as a wader chart.
  4. Try them on with layers. Squat, step up onto a chair and raise your arms. Pulling at the crotch or shoulders means too small or too short, and fabric pooling at the ankle means too long.

Adjustable suspenders help with torso length but they do not change leg length or boot size, so they are not a rescue for a wrong boot size.

What our data shows

At our last check (October 2026) we track two Hodgman waders on Amazon US, plus a wade shoe. Both waders are bootfoot.

These are the values we collected, and stock and size options change often. Check the current listing before you decide, and treat a sold-out size as a reason to look at another pair, not as a reason to order the closest one.

If the chart you want does not exist

When a maker gives no wader chart, you have three options:

Buyer feedback on fit

I did not read buyer reviews for the Hodgman waders while writing this page, so I won't summarize them. Read recent reviews on the exact pair, looking for comments on boot room and leg length.

Where to go from here

If you want to compare Hodgman with other bootfoot makers, our bootfoot waders page filters by height and material, and the neoprene waders and insulated waders pages cover cold-water pairs. If you are still working out which kind of wader you need, read our types of waders guide.

Questions people ask

Where is the Hodgman waders size chart?

I did not find a dedicated wader chart. The Hodgman product pages I opened on Pure Fishing show a men's apparel size guide with chest, waist and hip measurements and a prompt that says 'Need help choosing? Guide', with no wader-specific table. The collection page had no wader sizing guide either. If you need an inseam or boot-to-leg table, ask the seller or Pure Fishing before you buy.

How do Hodgman bootfoot waders fit?

The pages I opened do not say whether they run large or small. They describe adjustable suspenders with buckles for a customized fit on the Mackenzie, and Y-back elastic suspender straps on the Caster. They do not give a fit rule, so I won't give you one either.

What sizes do Hodgman waders come in?

On Amazon US, the Mackenzie Cleat Chest Bootfoot lists boot sizes 7 to 13, and the Caster Neoprene Bootfoot lists men's size 12 only in the data we hold. On the maker's own pages, the Mackenzie shows US 7 and US 13 as its listed sizes and the Caster is titled Men's Size 12. Sizes and stock change, so check the current listing.

Should I size up in Hodgman waders?

The Hodgman pages give no between-sizes rule. The general advice in our wader size chart guide, drawn from SITKA, is that bootfoot waders benefit from a little extra room for thick socks, because a tight boot compresses socks and chills feet. That is general guidance, not Hodgman advice.

Are Hodgman waders insulated?

The Caster Neoprene Cleat Bootfoot page describes a 3.5mm neoprene shell with 200g Thinsulate insulation and a rubber boot, so it is the insulated one. The Mackenzie page describes a heavy-denier PVC-coated nylon shell and a PVC boot and does not mention insulation. Insulation changes how much sock you wear, which changes the boot size you need.
