No Scott products are listed on Amazon US right now.

A Scott fly rod is a hand-built graphite, fiberglass or bamboo rod from Scott Fly Rod Company of Montrose, Colorado, and at our last check (October 2026) we found no Scott rods on Amazon US. Scott's own site says it sells only through select specialty fly shops. This page covers Scott's current lines, including the Centric, Session and Sector, explains how its warranty treats rods bought from third-party sites, and lists the fly rods from other brands that are on Amazon instead.

How alternatives are pickedProducts of the same type from other brands, closest first: same price tier as Scott's own listings at our last check, then the most maker-published specs. No popularity, no paid placement.

Which Scott model, if any

St. Croix Imperial USA IU1007.4

Good day on the water for

a fast, all-water 10-foot 7-weight for big rivers and streamers, with a graphite blank, a full wells cork grip and an uplocking machined aluminum reel seat, per the maker. The warranty is listed as 15-year transferable.

Leave it on the shelf if

you want a light, short rod for small creeks, or a rod that packs small, since this is a 10-foot four-piece.

See it on Amazon

Temple Fork Outfitters Blue Ribbon TF 06 91 4 BR

Good day on the water for

a medium-fast 9-foot 6-weight with a freshwater graphite blank and a lifetime warranty per the maker, a rod that loads earlier than a fast Scott.

Leave it on the shelf if

you want a stiff rod for wind and distance, because medium-fast is a more forgiving, slower recovery.

See it on Amazon

Temple Fork Outfitters Axiom II-X TF 05 90 4 A2-X

Good day on the water for

trout and all-water fishing with an extra-fast, 9-foot 5-weight graphite rod listed at 3.2 oz, with a no-fault lifetime warranty per the maker.

Leave it on the shelf if

you want a forgiving, slower rod for short casts, because extra-fast rods are stiffer and less tolerant of sloppy timing.

See it on Amazon

MAVRK MV-X 10'6" 3wt

Good day on the water for

nymphing trout with a 10 foot 6 inch, medium-fast 3-weight euro nymph rod and a down-locking reel seat, per the maker.

Leave it on the shelf if

you fish dry flies at short range, where a 10-foot-6 rod is awkward, or you want a general-purpose rod. See our euro nymph pages for what the style needs.

See it on Amazon

Redington Predator Salt 790-4

Good day on the water for

saltwater, with a fast, 9-foot 7-weight graphite rod, a corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum reel seat and a hard tube, per the maker. The maker lists striper, redfish, bonefish, tarpon and permit as targets.

Leave it on the shelf if

you fish freshwater only, where a 7-weight saltwater rod is more than most trout need.

See it on Amazon

Lamson Radius 3wt 9'

Good day on the water for

small trout streams with a medium-fast, 9-foot 3-weight at 2.8 oz, with a limited lifetime warranty for the original owner, per the maker. The water type is the Amazon listing's wording.

Leave it on the shelf if

you fish wind, big flies or larger fish, where a 3-weight runs out of backbone.

Who Scott is

Scott Fly Rod Company is a rod builder in Montrose, Colorado. Its history page says Harry Wilson, an engineer and angler who left an executive job to build better fly rods, started it in 1973 in a basement on Cook Street in San Francisco. It was incorporated in 1974 and named after Wilson's son, Scott. The page says the company later moved across the Bay, and that in 1993, "under new ownership," operations went from Berkeley to Telluride, Colorado, before a new facility was built in Montrose, where the company works today. The page does not name an owner, gives no date for the Montrose move, and I have not found a firsthand source for either, so I leave them out.

On its home page Scott says its rods are handcrafted in Montrose and are sold only through select specialty, local fly shops, with a Find a Dealer page and a service for registering and repairing rods. That sales policy matters for the rest of this page.

Scott on Amazon US

There are no Scott fly rods on Amazon US in our data. At our last check (October 2026) we found none, and the page you are reading therefore has no Scott products to compare. I will not invent a reason for the gap. What I can report is what Scott itself says: it sells through specialty fly shops, and its lifetime warranty excludes rods bought from third-party sites, with eBay and Amazon named as examples. That is a statement of Scott's policy, not an explanation of what is on Amazon.

The table above lists the fly rods from other brands that are on Amazon US. They are not a ranking and not "Scott-quality" substitutes. They were picked as the same type (single-hand fly rods), from the same or higher price tiers than a Scott sits in, with a preference for rods where the maker's page gives us the most specs. The mix leans on saltwater and heavy-line rods because those are the ones that fill those tiers on Amazon. Read the "maker," "claimed," "listing" and "—" marks under each value to see which numbers come from a maker page and which only from Amazon.

What Scott makes

From Scott's pages in October 2026, the rod range is:

Centric. Scott's fast-action freshwater series. The page lists new tapers and multi-modulus layups with a resin system that packs more fiber into the blank at less weight, ARC 2 reinforcement, flor-grade cork, titanium stripping guides with zirconia inserts and a milled reel seat. The maker says it suits any skill level and is a light, accurate trout rod for nymphing, dry flies, streamers and stillwater, and that the 6-weight 10-footer also suits steelhead and salmon rivers. The model table runs from an 8 foot 6 inch 4-weight to a 9 foot 7-weight and a 10-foot 6-weight, all four-piece.

Session. An all-water series, with what Scott calls its "signature fast with feel action." The page says it combines line speed and loop control with a light, lively feel. It lists custom machined aluminum reel seats with dyed box elder wood inserts, Silicon Nitride stripping guides and 3-weight to 8-weight models from 8 feet to 10 feet. The page matches models to jobs: the 9-foot 5-weight as an all-rounder, the 9-foot 6-weight for caddis, stoneflies and streamers, and the 10-foot 4-weight for technical nymphing.

Sector. The saltwater line: fast action, built for tarpon, permit, bonefish, GT, tuna and billfish, in 6-weight through 15-weight, in two-piece to four-piece models.

Split Cane. Scott's bamboo rods, with a separate one-year warranty. If bamboo interests you, see bamboo fly rods.

Where are the G Series and Radian? People search for them, and neither appears on the Scott pages I read. I do not know what happened to them, and I won't guess. If you are shopping for a used one, ask Scott about the model before you pay.

How to read Scott rod names

Scott's model codes follow a pattern you can read once you see it. Take the Centric C905/4. The first digits give the length (9 feet) and the next digit the line weight (5), and the "/4" is the number of pieces. So C854/4 is an 8 foot 6 inch 4-weight in four pieces, and SE956/4 is a 9 foot 6 inch 6-weight Session. The Sector table works differently, as it lists lengths and weights separately. I include this because a used or dealer listing often gives only the code, and the code tells you the line weight before the seller does.

The warranty, and why it matters for where you buy

Scott's Lifetime Warranty is the strongest reason to know where a rod was bought. Per Scott's repairs and warranty page, it applies only to the original owner of a new graphite or fiberglass rod, bought from an authorized Scott dealer and registered within 30 days. Rods that are resold, unregistered or bought from third-party sites such as eBay and Amazon are not covered. Rods and blanks with serial numbers above 35,000, made after about 1994, are covered; older rods are not, and may incur a repair fee. Loss, theft, transport damage, intentional damage and neglect are excluded. Blanks carry the same warranty as built rods, but not the work of a custom builder. Bamboo rods have a one-year warranty for the original owner, voided by repair or modification by anyone other than Scott.

To claim, you confirm the rod is covered, print the repair form, pack the entire rod with the form and mail it to Scott in Montrose. Scott says to expect 10 to 12 weeks for repairs from the day it receives the rod, and recommends UPS or FedEx, insured for full value, with tracking.

(A lifetime warranty that must be registered within 30 days is a lifetime warranty with a 30-day door.) None of this is a criticism; it is a clear policy, and it is the reason I would buy a Scott from a dealer, register it, and keep the receipt.

If you are buying a Scott elsewhere

Four checks, in order.

  1. Dealer. Use Scott's Find a Dealer page and buy from an authorized shop. That is the route Scott's warranty names.
  2. Registration. Register the rod within 30 days. Keep the proof of purchase with the serial number.
  3. Serial number. A used rod with a serial number below 35,000 falls outside the lifetime warranty. Ask for the number before you pay.
  4. Components. If the rod is built from a Scott blank by a custom builder, the builder's work is not covered. Ask who built it.

How the alternatives were picked

We have no Scott rods to list, so the table shows 15 rods from other brands. The method is simple. Type: single-hand fly rods only. Price tier: the same tier as a Scott or a higher one, because a cheap rod is a different purchase from a Scott and there is little point lining the two up. Specs: among the rods that fit, the rule keeps those where the maker's page gives the most detail on line weight, length, pieces, action, blank, reel seat and warranty, so the "maker" mark appears often. Water is not a filter, which is why the list holds both freshwater and saltwater models. The result is a mix of trout rods (the TFO Axiom II-X and Blue Ribbon, the Lamson Radius in 3 and 5 weights, the MAVRK MV-X euro-nymph rod) and a larger group of saltwater and heavy-line rods (the Redington Predator Salt, the St. Croix Imperial Salt, the TFO Mangrove Coast and Blitz, and the TFO Bluewater SG Heavy Duty in 16-weight).

These rods are not copies of Scott's. A fast St. Croix or Redington rod and a medium-fast TFO or Lamson rod will cast differently from each other and from a Scott, and we have not cast any of them. See fast-action fly rods, graphite fly rods and saltwater fly rods to compare more broadly.

Among the alternatives, the warranties differ more than the rods do: St. Croix lists 15 years transferable, Redington and TFO lifetime (TFO calls the Axiom II-X warranty no-fault lifetime), and Lamson and MAVRK limited lifetime. Read each maker's wording, because "lifetime" has different conditions in each.

Choosing by line weight

If you came for a Scott because of a line weight, start with the weight, not the brand. A 3- or 4-weight suits small streams and light flies. A 5-weight is the usual trout rod. A 6- or 7-weight suits big water and streamers. An 8-weight or heavier suits bass, pike, steelhead or saltwater. What weight fly rod walks through the pairing, and fly rod action explains the fast, medium-fast and moderate labels that Scott and the alternatives use. Our 5-weight page and the fly rod brands catalog put other brands side by side.

Questions about Scott

Can I buy a Scott fly rod on Amazon?

We found no Scott rods on Amazon US at our last check (October 2026). Scott's site says it sells only through select specialty, local fly shops and has a Find a Dealer page. If you see a Scott rod on a marketplace, check the seller and read the warranty section below first.

Does the Scott lifetime warranty cover a rod bought on Amazon?

According to Scott's repairs and warranty page, the Scott Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original owner of a new graphite or fiberglass rod bought from an authorized Scott dealer and registered within 30 days of purchase. The page says rods bought from third-party sites, naming eBay and Amazon as examples, are not covered. So a Scott rod from Amazon would not have the lifetime warranty on those terms.

What is the Scott Centric?

Scott's freshwater fast-action series. The maker's page says it uses new tapers and multi-modulus layups with a new resin system, and describes it as a light, accurate trout rod for any skill level, covering nymphing, dry flies, streamers and stillwater. The page lists 4-piece models from an 8 foot 6 inch 4-weight to a 10-foot 6-weight, with 7-weights at 9 feet.

What is the difference between the Scott Session and the Centric?

On Scott's pages the Centric is a freshwater series with the top recovery-speed rating, while the Session is an all-water series Scott calls its signature fast with feel action, with the fastest recovery-speed rating. The Session list runs from a 3-weight at 8 feet to an 8-weight at 9 feet. The pages do not compare the two directly, so I cannot tell you which is stiffer.

What happened to the Scott G Series and Radian?

I do not know. Neither name appears on Scott's current rod pages that we read in October 2026, which list the Centric, GT Series, F Series, Swing, Wave, Session, Sector and Split Cane rods, and I will not guess at a reason. If you are looking at a used G Series or Radian, ask Scott whether it is covered, because the warranty has rules about serial numbers and purchase.

Where are Scott fly rods made?

Scott says its rods are handcrafted in Montrose, Colorado, at 2355 Air Park Way. The company's history page says it began in 1973 in a San Francisco basement, moved to Telluride, Colorado in 1993 under new ownership, and later built a facility in Montrose.

Who founded Scott Fly Rod Company?

Harry Wilson, an engineer and angler, according to Scott's history page. The company started in 1973 in a basement on Cook Street in San Francisco, was incorporated in 1974, and is named after Wilson's son, Scott.

Which rods on Amazon are closest to a Scott?

The alternatives in the table above are matched by type (fly rods), by price tier (the same or higher as a Scott) and by the amount of maker detail we have, not by quality. For a freshwater trout rod, look at the TFO Axiom II-X (extra-fast), the TFO Blue Ribbon (medium-fast) and the Lamson Radius (medium-fast). For saltwater, the Redington Predator Salt, the St. Croix Imperial Salt and the TFO Mangrove Coast and Blitz. None of them is a Scott.
