How alternatives are pickedProducts of the same type from other brands, closest first: same price tier as DRYFT's own listings at our last check, then the most maker-published specs. No popularity, no paid placement.
Which DRYFT model, if any
Who DRYFT is
DRYFT's company page says the brand began in early 2012, when co-founders Sam Thompson and Nick Satushek wanted fishing waders that performed well, looked good and didn't cost a fortune. It describes itself as independently owned and operated, a small, locally owned business in Bellingham, Washington, with the founders overseeing day-to-day operations. It sells direct to customers through its website, which it says removes distribution and wholesale fees.
The wader range on the company page has five parts: the Primo series, the Lite series, wading pants (waist-high), women's models and bundles. The page doesn't name fabrics or give specs, so the detail below comes from the Seekr wading pants page, the one model page I read in full. I have no maker data for the Primo or Lite waders, and I'm not going to fill the gap from forum posts or from other makes.
Why there are no DRYFT products in the table
At our last check (October 2026) we track no DRYFT waders on Amazon US. A direct-to-customer business explains it well enough, but DRYFT doesn't say why, so I won't claim a reason. If you want DRYFT waders, the maker's own site is where to look.
The alternatives table above was picked by three rules: the same product type (waders), the same kind of wader as DRYFT's (stockingfoot, with a listed use of fly fishing, general fishing, or fishing and hunting), and the closest price tier, with the most maker-confirmed specs first. Bootfoot and hunting-only waders are left out, because they are a different tool from a river wader. The result is 15 stockingfoot chest, waist and convertible waders from Simms, Frogg Toggs, Compass 360, Bassdash, Kylebooker and Paramount.
Most of them are breathable waders with three or four layers per the maker or listing, and one, the Frogg Toggs Amphib, is neoprene. Maker detail is thin for some of them, so read the marks under each value. If you came for a river wader, open the stockingfoot waders page and best fly fishing waders, which are built around the kind of wader DRYFT sells.
What DRYFT says about the Seekr wading pants
The Seekr is a waist-high design, which means it covers you from the waist down and leaves the upper body free. That suits warm weather, quick trips and long hikes in. The page lists these specs.
- Fabric. A midweight four-layer, breathable, waterproof fabric with a denim look and a DWR (durable water repellent) coating.
- Waterproof rating. 20,000 mm or more. The page doesn't name a membrane or a lab, so treat the figure as the maker's claim.
- Seams. Double-taped, with the seam ends and edges taped too, and a single vertical seam on the outside of each leg.
- Feet. 4.0 mm neoprene stockingfeet, with gravel guards that have a boot lace hook and an outer cover.
- Pockets and zips. Two outer hand pockets and an inside flip-out pocket, plus a YKK water-resistant relief zipper. The page says the zippers are water-resistant, not fully waterproof or submersion-rated.
- Belt and weight. An adjustable wading belt is included and the suspenders are sold separately. The page gives a weight of 2 lb 0 oz for a size Large, without the bag and belt.
That is a lot of useful detail from one page, and it also shows what a good maker page looks like. When you read a listing for any wader, look for the layer count, the waterproof rating, the foot construction and the seam treatment. If a listing gives you only adjectives, use the "claimed" mark in our tables as your cue.
PFAS and shipping limits
One fact on the Seekr page matters if you live in certain states. DRYFT says the DWR coating contains PFAS and that the product cannot be sold or shipped to California, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York or Vermont. The page adds that a PFAS-free version is coming for Fall 2026. I'm reporting what the page says and haven't checked the state laws behind it. If you live in one of those states, check the product page before you order, and ask the maker what is available to you.
Sizing: how to use the DRYFT size chart
DRYFT publishes a sizing chart on its site, and the Seekr page carries a chart from Small to 2XL with waist and inseam ranges. I don't copy size charts, because makers change them and a stale table does more harm than none. What I can do is show you how to use one.
- Measure over what you will wear. Wear the base layer and fleece you'd wear in cold water, or at least thin ones, and keep the tape level.
- Take the numbers a wader chart asks for. For a wading pant, waist and inseam. For a chest wader, chest, waist, hip and inseam, plus your shoe size for a stockingfoot with a separate boot.
- If you fall between sizes, think about movement. A wader that pulls at the crotch or knees when you step up will strain its seams. Go up a size and cinch the belt rather than going down.
- Check the cut as well as the size. Makers offer short, regular, tall and stout cuts. Read what each one means on the chart.
For waders from other makers, our wader size chart guide explains the measuring in detail. I have not read enough buyer feedback on DRYFT fit to summarise it, so I won't say whether the pants run large or small.
DRYFT warranty and repairs
DRYFT's warranty page says products are guaranteed free of defects in workmanship or materials, and that the retail warranty covers the original owner for the product's usable life, with no fixed number of years. A receipt or proof of purchase is required. If a problem shows up within 30 days of receipt, DRYFT repairs or replaces the item at no charge and provides a prepaid return label. After 30 days a processing fee covers the assessment. The warranty excludes accidents, improper care, normal wear and damage not caused by a defect, and use contrary to the product's purpose voids it.
The page also describes a repair service. Tears, pinhole leaks, straps and buckles are usually repairable, and small tears and pinholes in stockingfeet can often be fixed. The page says stockingfeet cannot be replaced, and that replacing a waterproof zipper is often not cost-effective. Gear must be clean and dry before it is sent in: mold or mildew, excessive dirt, oils and salt buildup can void a claim or make a repair impossible. That is a good rule for any wader, and our guides to cleaning waders and wader repair cover the routine.
Choosing between DRYFT-style and the alternatives
Here is how I'd decide, in four questions.
Do you walk, or stand? Walking rivers calls for a stockingfoot wader and a separate wading boot. Standing in a marsh or on a boat ramp suits a bootfoot. That one choice outweighs any brand.
How deep will you wade? Waist-high pants like the Seekr are fine for most shallow trout water and keep you cooler. For deeper water or cold mornings, chest waders keep more of you dry. The wading pants page lists others.
What temperature? The breathable waders in the table do not list a comfort range, and the neoprene Frogg Toggs Amphib lists 3.5 mm. Most listings give no temperature range at all, so a missing number means "ask," not "fine." Plan your layers under the wader for cold water.
How much do you want to know before you buy? If you want maker-confirmed specs, filter the table by the "maker" mark. If you are happy with a listing's words, the "listing" mark shows what the Amazon page says.
(A denim-look waterproof pant does raise one question, which is whether the fish will be impressed. Early signs say no.)
What to look for in a stockingfoot wader
Since DRYFT sells stockingfoot waders and pants, here are the details that separate one pair from another, using the fields in our table.
- Neoprene bootie thickness. The Seekr lists 4.0 mm and the Compass 360 listing says 4 mm. Thicker neoprene is warmer and takes more room inside the boot, so you may need a boot a size up. Keep that in mind when you shop for a wading boot.
- Gravel guards. The cuff that closes over the top of the boot to keep sand and gravel out. Both pairs above list them. Without one, grit works into the boot and wears the neoprene.
- Layers and rating. Layer counts and waterproof figures are maker claims. A four-layer fabric is not automatically better than a three-layer one, and neither number is a durability rating. The mark in the table tells you whether the figure comes from the maker's page or only the listing.
- Seams. Taped seams matter more than the count. Look for statements about taping and about the number of seams in the legs.
- Reinforced knees. Useful if you kneel on gravel to unhook a fish, and a common wear point.
Our breathable waders page explains how to read those fields further.
A safety note about waist-high wading pants
Wading pants stop at the waist, and water that gets over the top goes straight in. Don't wade deeper than the belt line, wear a snug belt, and use a wading staff in any current. If the river is higher or colder than you are comfortable with, don't cross it.
Where to go next
Our breathable waders page covers fabric and layers, and the bootfoot versus stockingfoot guide covers the choice that matters most. For the brands in the table, see Simms, Frogg Toggs and Compass 360.
Where DRYFT shows up
Questions about DRYFT
Are DRYFT waders sold on Amazon?
We track no DRYFT waders on Amazon US at our last check (October 2026). DRYFT's company page describes a direct-to-customer business that sells through its own site, which it says cuts out distribution and wholesale fees. If you see a DRYFT-named listing elsewhere, compare it with the maker's own product page before you buy.
Where can I find the DRYFT waders size chart?
DRYFT publishes a sizing chart at dryftfishing.com/sizing-chart/, and the Seekr wading pants page carries its own chart for Small to 2XL with waist and inseam ranges. I don't copy size charts, so use the maker's. Measure waist, chest, hip and inseam over the layers you will wear, and compare them with the chart for the exact model.
Are DRYFT waders waterproof and breathable?
DRYFT describes its Seekr wading pants as a midweight four-layer fabric with a DWR coating, a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm or more and double-taped seams. The page does not name a membrane. Like every waterproof rating on this site, that number is the maker's claim and not an independent lab result.
Do DRYFT waders have a warranty?
DRYFT guarantees its products against defects in workmanship or materials for the original owner for the product's usable life, and requires proof of purchase. Problems reported within 30 days of receipt are repaired or replaced at no charge, and after 30 days a processing fee applies. Mold, mildew, heavy dirt and salt buildup can void a claim or make a repair impossible. DRYFT's warranty page also says stockingfeet cannot be replaced.
Can DRYFT waders be shipped anywhere in the US?
Not every model. DRYFT's Seekr page says the DWR coating contains PFAS and that the product cannot be sold or shipped to California, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York or Vermont, and that a PFAS-free version is coming in Fall 2026. Check the product page for the pair you want and your state.
What are the best alternatives to DRYFT waders?
For a like-for-like stockingfoot breathable wader, start with our stockingfoot and breathable waders pages. Every wader in the table above is a stockingfoot fishing wader, so the type matches. The Compass 360 Deadfall STFT is a four-layer, PTFE, stockingfoot chest wader with neoprene booties and gravel guards, per the listing and maker data. The Simms Freestone and Tributary are stockingfoot breathable waders, and the Frogg Toggs Hellbender PRO is a four-layer chest wader. None is a DRYFT, so compare layers, booties and warranty.
Are stockingfoot waders better than bootfoot for walking?
In my view, yes, if you walk. A stockingfoot wader pairs a neoprene sock with a separate wading boot, so you get ankle support and a choice of sole. A bootfoot is simpler and warmer for standing still. Our bootfoot versus stockingfoot guide goes through it.
